Astins are pleased to be once again working with Lambeth Council to deliver a six week introduction to dry-lining course for people looking to get a start in the industry. This is the third trainee programme we will have successfully delivered.
On 26th October, ten previously unemployed individuals arrived at our training facility to begin the programme. They will spend the first week based at the Institute, learning from Astins’ Trainer Paul Hayter, plus visit our Battersea Power Station project to find out about working on site. Over the following five weeks they will work on site to get some hands-on practical experience and return to the Institute at intervals for further training.
Paul Hayter, Astins’ Trainer said, “The trainees are full of enthusiasm and excitement and all keen and willing to learn. They especially enjoyed the site visit to Battersea Power Station as it allowed them to see both the finished article, together with current Fixers working in a real construction environment.”
Upon successful completion of the training programme, the individuals will be given the opportunity to interview for a role which will set them on the path for a career within the construction industry.
Astins look forward to running another successful training programme and in turn providing employment opportunities to the wider community.
